ISO outlet cups are suitable for determining the flow time of Newtonian / near-Newtonian liquids and are frequently used in laboratories and industrial production. For handling, the nozzle must be closed and the measured material poured into the outlet cup. By placing the glass plate on the cup, you create a vacuum that allows the cup to be placed in the stand for timing. When the glass plate is then pulled from the outlet cup, the measurement can be started. As soon as the flow stops, the time must be stopped. For a relative value, this method is quite sufficient in many areas.

To further ensure the accuracy of the cup, it is important to perform a cleaning after each use. It is important not to damage the surface inside the beaker. Any scratch or dried material residue will affect further measurements.
