Ground Hog ModelONE One-MAN Hand Drill with Honda GX35e, ModelONEThe ModelONE is a small, hand-held one-man auger that will stand up to rental and commercial use.The Ground Hog ModelONE is a small, hand-held, one-man auger that is designed from the ground up for Commercial and Rental use and also for a great end-user experience. Ground Hog Inc. has been making larger earth drills for over 70 years and when we decided to build a smaller one-man machine, we wanted it to be the best. One-man earth drills have been around a long time and they haven’t changed much. We wanted to design a high-quality machine that is improved and refined in every possible way. We think we have accomplished that goal.At the heart of the ModelONE is the transmission and it is designed to take abuse. A 3-inch centrifugal clutch transfers the engine’s power to heat-treated billet steel gears. Oversized bearings are used throughout. The sealed, grease-filled cast aluminum gearcase is heavily reinforced with ribbing to make it incredibly strong without adding unnecessary weight. All of this allows the transmission to easily handle the torque, shock, and also impact and side stresses on the auger bit. The handlebar is comfortable and the controls are easy to use.The full wrap-around handlebar has a thick and durable cushioned grip surface that gives comfort and control to the operator. There is a trigger-type, spring-return throttle that allows for precise control, and a kill switch is located conveniently above the throttle. The handlebar and the gearcase are also designed to make the machine as short as possible to allow the operator to start digging a hole at a lower, more comfortable, and controlled hand position. The ModelONE is rugged and reliable and is powered by a Honda GX35 4-Stroke engine. The handlebar assembly is made from steel and has a durable powder-coated finish. The ModelONE power unit and the auger bits themselves are optimized to work together as a system. The engine speed and torque, the transmission gear ratio, as well as the angle of the auger blades and the pitch of the flites, work together to provide maximum digging power while minimizing strain on the operator. With the ModelONE, you get plenty of power and control with less fatigue. The ModelONE has a 1-inch round auger drive and will handle up to an 8” auger bit. Bits are available in 2”, 4”, 6” and 8” and all of the bits are 36 inches long.
Ground Hog HD99 Hydraulic One-man Towable Earth Drill with Honda GX270, Hydraulic HD99The HD99 is a Towable Hydraulic Earthdrill and the most powerful earthdrill in the Ground Hog lineThe Ground Hog HD99 is a Towable Hydraulic Earthdrill that is designed to be powerful, easy to use, and require very little maintenance. The HD99 is the most powerful earth drill in the Ground Hog line. With its 9hp Honda engine, the HD99 can easily dig with any Ground Hog auger up to 18 inches in diameter. The use of hydraulics allows the HD99 to have variable auger speed and reverse which is very useful if the auger gets stuck. The HD99 is designed to take the load off of the operator by being almost perfectly balanced with an 8-inch auger attached, and the right-angle design eliminates torque to the operator. There are also 3 handlebar positions that allow for normal drilling, as well as close-up drilling next to an obstacle such as a wall or fence. The drilling head also pivots from side to side for drilling on uneven terrain.Large highway-rated tires make the HD99 easy to maneuver around the job site and there is a locking mechanism on the digging head that allows the auger to be held up and out of the way for moving the machine around the job without having to disconnect the auger. The heavy-duty powder-coated steel construction of the HD99 uses a pivoting engine cradle that protects the engine and lets it stay level for proper oiling and longer life. The low profile and compact design of the frame eliminate the need for telescoping booms and axles and allow the unit to be transported in the bed of a small truck. The HD99 also comes equipped with a towbar with a 2" hitch coupler and safety chains for surface street and Jobsite transport. The hydraulic system used on the HD99 is extremely reliable and requires very little maintenance compared to mechanical systems, and the HD99 uses high quality Parker components. All the maintenance that is usually required is to check or change the hydraulic fluid and engine oil and replace the hydraulic filter.
Ground Hog T-4 Mini Chain-Type Irrigation Trencher with Honda GX160 - 18” Shark Chain, T-4 TrencherThe T-4 Trencher is a small, yet Heavy Duty chain-type trencher designed for jobs requiring up to a 12 or 18 inch deep trench when a full-size trencher is not practical. The T-4’s narrow, compact design allows easy access around the job site and it easily fits through gates and doorways. The T-4 is also easier to use and transport than larger trenchers. The simplified operator controls help make the machine less intimidating to operators unfamiliar with using outdoor power equipment. The Ground Hog T-4 uses a unique ratchet mechanism on the wheels to help prevent the machine from pulling away from the trenching direction. This greatly aids the operator while trenching and allows the trencher to do the digging while the side delivery auger piles the dirt up neatly beside the trench. When the depth control handle is moved to one of the 3 digging positions the wheel ratchets engage allowing the wheels to only roll in the trenching direction. The T-4 is available in several different configurations in regards to the maximum depth of the trench, and the blade type. Two different maximum trench depths are available, one that has a maximum depth of 12 inches and one that will dig up to an 18-inch deep trench. Both models have 3 operator-controlled depth settings and are essentially the same machine with the 18-inch model having a longer digging boom and chain. Both the 12 and 18-inch models are available with a choice of replaceable carbide-tipped Shark teeth or replaceable carbide-tipped Bullet-type teeth for digging in all types of soil conditions. The Shark and Bullet teeth are both good general-purpose blades, however, they both have their strengths in different types of soil. The Shark blades have shorter teeth that penetrate the ground easier and are noticeably smoother while digging and also do better in soil that has small roots and other obstructions. Both types of blades will dig in rocky soil, but the Bullet chain has a taller profile that will handle baseball-size and larger rocks better. Both blade types dig a 3-inch wide trench and there is a 4-inch wide option available on the 12-inch models.
